ESG Quench

ESG has studied the affect of multiple design factors on the outcome of the pipe properties utilizing operating plants. ESG has more than 20 quenches operating successfully in OCTG plants. In addition we have designed for heavy wall and solid bar applications. Quenches need to be designed around the specific application it is used for. Factors that influence the severity of the quench are nozzle type, angle to the pipe, coverage around the diameter, distance to the next nozzle, water flow, water pressure, water removal path, nozzle distance to the pipe and several others. The quench that ESG designs can provide the fastest quench available. This allows the operators to utilize lower chemistry steel and still make quality product. The thicker wall material can be managed with the ESG quench.

ESG has developed what we call the dynamic quench system. Process changes are made to the quench based on the the pipe diameter, thickness, and chemistry. These changes are all automated, can be duplicated, and result in consistent results throughout a product range.

For a wider range of diameters ESG quenches are built with additional stage of sprays that can be turned on to cover a larger diameter without flooding a smaller diameter. For different applications spray pressure and volume can be modified to provide the best quench. Variable are documented in a menu and can be retrieved for a subsequent batch.

Energy Service Group will analyze your needs and make a recommendation based on existing equipment or for a new application.
