Inline Furnace

In line furnaces have been utilized for a long time in the heat treatment of pipe and tube. Energy Service Group has refined and modified these furnaces to improve both heat transfer and longevity.

The ESG inline tunnel furnace has many advantages during the austenitizing of tubing, casing and bar

  • Heat transfer to the pipe is extremely fast. For a detailed discussion click on this link
  • Continuous inline production has multiple advantages – more uniformity in heating and a better quenching environment. For futhur discusion click on this link.
  • The inline furnace is forgiving for welded pipe that have inherent stresses. The constant rotating of the pipe while applying heat allows the pipe to relieve and straighten. In many large walking beam furnaces, smaller diameter welded pipes will not be run because they can scramble and cause excessive downtime.
  • The inline furnaces have several advantages over induction. Besides a large savings in power costs, the inline furnace can be operated at a lower exit temperature and provide good properties because of the thorough soak.
  • After several generations of furnace building and repairs. the refractories required and the alloys used by ESG are well documented to produce an industrial hardened furnace.
